Weepa - 70mm High Performance Bushfire Weepa (for weep holes) - Pack of 25 - 15-NABW

The 70mm Bushfire Weepa for brick weep holes is a shortened version of the High Performance Bushfire Weepa. The patented grate is designed so that under extreme heat from bush fires it does not melt but chars and retains its structural integrity.

Cavity brick walls must have weep holes to properly provide drainage and ventilation, but have the potential to provide access for vermin and can present a bushfire hazard as well as being unsightly.

-A weep hole former containing stainless steel mesh and fire resistant polymer, designed to protect your home during a bushfire.

-A special size for use in narrow or NZ brick.

-Installed by the bricklayer during construction.

-When used in masonry construction it is compliant with Bushfire Attack Levels of AS3959:2018 BAL-LOW, BAL-A12.5 and BAL-19. 

-The red mortar protector is removed after installation, leaving a clean and beautiful finish.

-Ensures ventilation and drainage of the cavity to reduce fungal decay and mildew.

-Excludes a wide range of pests.

Statutory Requirements
Building requirements - The Australian Standard AS 3700-2018 for Masonry Structures Section 4.7.2 says "Weep holes shall be provided to drain moisture from or through masonry construction. Where flashings are incorporated in the masonry, weep holes shall be provided in the masonry course immediately above the flashing, at centres not exceeding 1200 mm." 

Bushfire requirements - The Australian Standard for Construction in Bushfire Prone areas (AS3959:2018) stipulates that new buildings in bushfire prone areas require weep hole protection to prevent ember attack. It specifies the requirements for ember screening to meet the various Bushfire Attack Level (BALs).
